I shot this in 2018 after reuniting with my college friend and roommate. We were both relatively new to the Bay. Noe Valley has a really awesome panoramic view of the city.
In 2017, we both lived in Culver City, Los Angeles. We are both Southern California natives and LA was a time of growth and exploration.
I walked along the Chicago River at night and saw this couple enjoying the view. The trees hid what they were gazing upon but I liked that the light was so colorful that you could almost imagine what they're looking at.
My last few nights in LA were spent hanging around the beaches with good friends of mine. This was shot at a skatepark on a foggy night. I love foggy nights because lights refract so visibly, creating an ominous yet calming atmosphere.
This was shot on the first week I got my Mamiya RB67 camera, a medium format film camera (6x7 cm). I was inspired by midwestern night photographers at the time and explored medium format film.
Funny enough, this isn't a wedding photo shoot. I gathered my core group of friends from childhood and organized a professional "LinkedIn" grade photoshoot. It was a fun way to get some decent photos and have some fun.
My friend and I went on a spontaneous night drive to Palos Verdes to watch the oceans. The peninsula boasts a ridiculous scenery of ocean and looks insane at night. This was taken on my iPhone at a Ralphs parking lot. I think I bought a chocolate milk.
Malibu has some great beach spots. The weather was cooling down so there weren't many beach-goers but this one man stood looking for something in the water.
This was shot at 70 mph on my commute home from work. Operating a phone camera while driving isn't recommended. But you do get a sick shot.
My teenage years were spent outdoors skating. Photos are typically shot still but you get this awesome blurred affect when shot in motion.
I visited family in Korea back in 2011. My uncle was a professional photographer and gave me his Hasselblad 500cm. The workhorse of pro-level cameras back in the film era. I was actually on a bus when I shot this.
In high school, my six closest friends and I went on a trip to San Diego. Still one of my fondest memories. Traversing through the sandy Ho Chi Minh trail to the shores of La Jolla was an amazing experience.
I shot this on a spontaneous trip to USC with my dad and sister. I was into symmetry at the time. Little did I know that I would later attend USC as a student.
I spent a college summer hanging out with friends in Berkeley. Some of the best memories of my life. B.A.R.T. was not one of them, but it got us around.
